Basic Sewing Techniques
No Experience Required (3– 2½ hour classes) Mondays
This course is designed for a beginner with very little or no sewing experience or as a refresher for someone who has not sewn for a long time. You will see and understand some different fabrics and how they behave when being cut and sewn, understand the grain of fabric, bias, and why it is important in laying out your patterns, why you would use different stitches, and much more. Plus, learn to operate the sewing machine while building the basic skills of sewing and finishing seams, making darts and proper pressing techniques. Learn how to do small repairs like hemming a pair of pants or jeans. You will make a binder of samples for future reference. Build your skills in a bright classroom where the sewing machines are supplied.
A perfect class before Introduction to Sewing a Garment.
