activa 220
The model for sure-fire success
Simply switch it on and start sewing. The activa 220 is a breeze to use, with all the basic features you need in a sewing machine.

In addition to all basic features, this machine offers a number of useful functions that make sewing even easier: the optional Free Hand System (FHS), a choice of 50 fabulous stitches, 2 different buttonholes, 5 (snap-on) presser feet as standard, the extension table, plus a wealth of extras

Presser foot :
The robust presser feet can be changed quickly and easily for different tasks.

Threader :
For successful threading first time, every time.

Magnifying-glass holder :
Optional: the BERNINA magnifying-glass set with different diopter strengths can be attached to the magnifying-glass holder.

CFL sewing light :
The especially bright, pleasant light illuminates the fabric from three sides , leaving other sewing lights in the shade.

Buttonholes :
The automatic length-measuring system makes sewing buttonholes a breeze. Choose from a host of different buttonholes: standard, keyhole and straight stitch.

Memory :
All stitches, including alphabets and buttonholes, can be saved in the memory.

Stitch length and width :
Simply press the buttons to change the basic settings. All settings are displayed on screen.

Four shortcuts Available at the touch of a button when required: Needle stop u p/down, half speed, pattern end, and mirror right/ eft function. (mirror function only on activa 240)

FHS Free-hand system :
A real BERNINA highlight. Use the kneelifter to raise and lower the presser foot, leaving both hands free. The simultaneous lowering of the feed-dogs protects the fabric. Ideal for free-motion techniques like darning and quilting.

Start/stop unit (optional):
Use the Start/stop button and speed regulator as an alternative to the foot control. This can save time and physical effort.
